This sleeping mother-daughter duo has started an online pillow war.
A North Carolina mom is sharing thoughts after sleeping in her daughter’s dorm room on her first night at college.
Critics have called Lori Miggins, 48, “gross” and “weird” for hanging out with daughter Taylor, 18, at Appalachian State University last week, sharing footage of the slumber party on Instagram .
“I know not everyone will get this chance, but if you can, do it!” Lori wrote, explaining that Taylor arrived on campus a few days before her college roommate since she is a member of the cheerleading squad.
“Very fortunate that the athletes moved in early, the roommate’s bed was available, and that I had the opportunity to spend the first night in my daughter’s college dorm room with her,” the devoted mom, who has two children little ones”. €”, he added.
Lori’s video quickly went viral, with several snaps of the sweet mother-daughter duo taking a nap.
“I want this! You are an amazing mother and your bond with your children is very special!” one dared.
“As a girl who had to bury her mom at 22, I’m crying,” wrote another with emotion. “I am very happy that this young lady appreciates her mother and wants to spend time with her. My mom and I were close, but I always regret the things I didn’t say to her and the time I should have had for her.”
However, others accused Lori of being a “helicopter mom” who was “setting her daughter up for failure” by not leaving her alone.
“That’s weird fk,” declared one troll bluntly.
“This is heavy and strange,” said a second sniper. “Have some boundaries. Say goodbye to your child and go cry in the car like everyone else. Let them live their lives. That’s what you raised them to do.”
However, Lori hit back, telling the cruel critics to keep their opinions to themselves.
“I lost my mom suddenly and Taylor and I were very close to her,” she said. “I dream of having a relationship with both my daughters like I had with my mother, and that’s what I continue to nurture every day.”
“We have created a memory that will last a lifetime! That’s all. You do you, and I’ll do me! No need to be so negative!”
She added that she asked permission from both the college and Taylor’s future roommate.
Meanwhile, Taylor told “Today” she loved having her mom stay her first night on campus.
“Having my mom there helped my anxiety a lot,” she said.
