Two McDonald’s customers recently shared their experience at the “world’s scariest McDonald’s” on TikTok.
Partners Kassidy and James, AKA @Kassidy_and_James, had the opportunity to dine on dead bodies during their recent trip to Rome, Italy. “This is an absolute skeleton in a McDonald’s,” Kassidy said in the viral clip.
In the 29-second clip with over 1.2 million views, the tourist shares her disturbing discovery while looking for a quick bite at a Mickey D’s in Frattocchie, an hour southeast of Italy’s capital.
She noticed a transparent glass panel on the floor outside the grocery chain’s building overlooking an ancient street filled with skeletons.
“That’s down a McDonald’s,” Kassidy said. “Wait, it’s still inside.”
The restaurant offers customers a unique dining experience over a 2,000-year-old road beneath the building, which is believed to be connected to the Appian Way, one of the busiest roads in ancient Rome, Mirror UK reported.
McDonald’s made a spectacle of the historic site after construction workers found the hidden path that had become a burial site in 2014.
Archaeologists excavated three bodies that were identified as men between the ages of 35 and 40, according to Pamela Cerino, an archaeologist who participated in the dig.
The facility allows people to enter through the McDonald’s car park to see the facilities up close for free.
Many people admit that eating at a fast food restaurant would make them lose their appetite.
“I don’t think I want a McRib anymore,” one person confessed.
“She gets McDoubles like a crypt,” joked another.
“Whoever that person was in life, they could never imagine having that look 3000 years in the future…crazy,” someone commented.
Meanwhile, some people were confused as to why tourists ate at American burger joints instead of authentic Italian restaurants.
“The question … you are in Rome and you decide to eat at a McDonald’s … Why?” one person asked.
Mario Federico, head of McDonald’s Italia, revealed that this is no ordinary McDonald’s.
“This is our first museum restaurant,” he said. “We have been able to give back a part of the Roman road to the local community and to the whole of Italy.”
Federico explained the explanation, revealing the purpose behind the appearance of the bones.
“The project is a good example of how the public and private sectors can effectively cooperate for the recovery of cultural heritage,” he said.
